SJVN EMPLOYEES DEATH RELIEF SCHEME
1.0 OBJECTIVE:
The SJVNL Employees Death Relief Scheme is
introduced with a view to provide financial assistance
to the families of member employees who die a natural
death while in the employment of the Company.
2.0 SCOPE AND COERAGE:
2.1 The Scheme will cover all employees borne on the
regular rolls of the Company who enroll themselves as
members of the scheme, but will exclude deputationists,
lien holders, apprentices, muster roll, casual, badli or
substitute employees.
2.2 The benefits under this scheme will be in
addition to that admissible under any other Insurance
Scheme.
3.0 MEMBERSHIP OF THE SCHEME:
3.1 The membership of the scheme will be voluntary.
3.2 An eligible employee who wishes to become a
member shall apply in the prescribed
format authorizing SJVN to recover
contribution payable by him @ one day salary (Basic+ DA)
at the time of death of a member and giving details of
nominees (For trainees who are paid consolidated salary,
one day pay shall be calculated by dividing the
consolidating stipend by 30).
3.3 Management will provide matching grant equivalent
to contribution of the employees.
4.0 EXTENT OF PAYMENT/BENEFITS UNDER THE SCHEME
4.1 In the event of natural death of members while
in the employment of the company, nominee will be paid
an amount equivalent to one day salary (Basic + DA) of
all members alongwith matching contribution by the
Company.
The benefit, as above, shall not be admissible in the
case of death arising out of accident, for which the
relief is covered under Company’s Group Personal
Accident Insurance Scheme.
4.2 In addition in the event of the death of the
members, an amount of RS. 30,000/- will be paid towards
funeral expenses over and above the matching
contribution by Company. The payment will be released
immediately from concerned F&A Deptt. in the event
of occurrence.
4.3 In the event of natural death of an employee on
deputation to SJVN a relief of Rs. 10,000/-
(non-refundable) shall be released immediately to the
family members of such employees towards funeral
expenses.
5.0 NOMINATION FOR PAYMENT
5.1 Every member employee shall make a nomination in
the prescribed
format conferring one or more persons of his
family the right to receive the benefit under the scheme
in the event his death indicating the shares payable to
each member. Family for this purpose shall mean the
Spouse, children whether married or unmarried, dependant
parents and the widow and children of deceased son, if
any.
5.2 The nomination may be changed by a member
employee at any time through a written notice to this
effect and filling of revised nominations in the
prescribed from.
5.3 In case no nomination has been made by the
deceased member employee under this scheme, the benefit
under the scheme will be paid to the person(s) as
nominated for Provident Fund.
6.0 PROCEDURE FOR PAYMENT
6.1 On natural death of a member employee,
intimation to F&A will be given by the concerned HR
Department. On receipt of the communication F&A
Department will sanction the amount after ascertaining
the beneficiary/beneficiaries entitled to receive the
benefit. The payment will be made by a crossed cheque/bank
draft.
7.0 ADMINISTRATION OF THE SCHEME
7.1 The scheme will be administered by Sr. Manager
(P&A), incharge of Estt. Shimla at Corporate Centre.
7.2 Sr. Manger (P&A) shall receive the application
for the membership of the scheme, in duplicate and
maintain a register. A copy of the list of members shall
also be sent to F&A Deptt.
7.3 In the event of death of a member, Sr. Manager
(P&A) shall intimate F&A Deptt. Based on this
information F&A will effect recoveries at the
stipulated rates from next salary. In the case of
members who leave the service of the company after the
receipt of such intimation and before the next salary
disbursement, recoveries shall be effected from their
last dues.
7.4 Payment to the nominee of the deceased member
shall be calculated as per the formula given below:

One day salary of total
number of membership in the company as on the last
date of the preceding month in which death occurs
plus equivalent amount as management contribution.

An amount of Rs.
30,000/- will be paid towards funeral expenses over
and above the matching contribution by the
management.
8.0 CESSATION OF MEMBERSHIP
8.1 The membership of an employee will cease, with
specific written notice for withdrawal or in the event
of separation from the Company.
9.0 POWERS FOR AMENDMENT/CLARIFICATION
9.1 CMD/Director (P) of the Corporation shall be the
final authority to modify/amend/revoke and to give
clarification/interpretation to any of the provision of
the scheme.
